Casino Night at Second House Tavern to Benefit the Friends of the Montauk Downs- Second House Tavern will be transformed into a lively outside casino complete with roulette wheel and black jack tables. Sponsor Brugal Rum will serve theiur signature Original Daiquiris and hand rolled authentic Dominican Cigars. Tickets are $100 in advance and a buffet dinner will be served. Spoken Word and Slide Talk with Peter Spacek, cartoonist- The East End's favorite cartoonist will discuss his work as an illustrator and cartonist. Some slides of his recent work will be shown and his newest book, "Surf and Mirth", a collection of wry, funny and sometimes twisted cartoons that skewer beach people, surfers, fishermen, the fab and un-fab, locals, tourists and much more will be available for sale.At the Montauk Library 7-9pm.

Montauk to Block Island Open Ocean Paddle Each paddler must raise or contribute a minimum of $1500 to participate in this 18-mile paddle. The paddle will begin at 6:30 am at the north side of the Montauk Lighthouse and will take approximately five hours to complete. Paddlers will be accompanied by support boats. A post-event party will be held at the Oar Restaurant on Block Island. Return transportation provided by the Viking Block Island Ferry. Weather date is September 6th.
