When people think of Montauk, they think of beautiful beaches and fishing, but there is no end to the fabulous nightlife this small hamlet offers. The nightlife in this “last resort” runs the gamut from lone singers in tiny bars, to Karaoke packing in 300 people, to beach and rock bands, Reggae sunsets, Spanish bands, poolside minstrels, and even Burlesque shows.
By predications of the real estate rentals and motel bookings, the summer of 2013 promises to be another hectic one for the Montauk area, where tourists come in droves to relax and also to party. So here is a list of where to go and what to do, when Memorial Day rolls around. It’s time to let your hair down and leave your worries behind, with over 100 bars and restaurants at your fingertips, with plenty of good food, drinks and dancing.




360 East at Montauk Downs

This new restaurant promises a very lively Thursday night with Margarita Madness and Live Reggae with the Soul Junkies Raggai Band. Come for $5 margaritas and $3 Heinekin and Heineken Lights and start your weekend early.



668 The gig Shack

This local favorite located on Main Street, Montauk, has live music throughout the day and night, at their outdoor/indoor restaurant and bar. Check their music schedule on Facebook. 668-2727.



Backyard at Sole East

A hip hotel located at 90 Second House Road, has another long list of live music—starting with “Acoustic Sunsets” which begin July 4th Weekend, and include national music acts around the pool. Solé East features DJ’s around the pool on Saturdays and Sundays, and live music nightly in the restaurant. They also have a Brazilian Brunch on Sundays, with live Bosa Nova music. Call 668-2105.



East by Northeast Restaurant

ENE has live entertainment on Saturday nights, including singer Lawrence Cooley. Located on Edgemere Road, call 668-2872.




Gurney's has Karaoke every Thursday night at 9 p.m., and they also have DJ or live music and dancing every Friday and Saturday night.They will be starting their famous Tuesday night beach parties on Tuesday, June 11, and they will continue each week, with live bands and food and drink specials, on the ocean. Every Wednesday is “Lobster Night” at Gurney’s. Located on the Old Montauk Highway, call 668-2345.




Lynn's Hula hut

Lynn's, located at the Montauk Marine Basin, will have live music on weekends, at their Polynesian Tiki Bar. Relax in the hammock garden to the easy sounds of live music, or be creative at Lynn's EPIC BLOODY MARY BAR every weekend!! They are open 7 days a week from Noon till 10 p.m., and they also serve light bites and Tapas. Located on West Lake Drive, call 668-5900.





The Montauket will feature live music every Thursday night, starting at 5 p.m., with such acts as Jetty Koon and the 3B’s. Located on 88 Firestone Road in Montauk, call 668-5992.




Navy Beach

This popular restaurant right on the beach has music and events throughout the season. Check their web site or call 668-6868 for their schedule.




O'Murphy's Pub

O’Murphy’s Pub and Restaurant will be having Karaoke with “Helen the Diva” on Saturday nights starting at 10 p.m., and on Sunday nights they will have Michael Dann on the acoustic guitar. Located on the Green in Montauk, call 668-5005.




Sail Inn Bar and Restaurant

They will be having live music and Karaoke on Saturday nights this summer. Located at 548 West Lake Drive. Call 668-2800.



Shagwong Bar and Restaurant

The iconic Shagwond, located on Montauk’s Main Street, has the popular 3B’s band every Saturday night after Memorial Day Weekend. They play from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Located on Main Street, Montauk. Call 668-3050.



Surf Lodge

The Point Bar and Grill

Famous for their half-priced drinks and appetizers Monday through Fridays from 4-7 p.m, and for their late night scene. Located on Main Street, Montauk, call 668-1500.



Swallow East

This lively restaurant and night spot is located in the heart of the fishing docks. They feature live music with different groups five night a week, and Reggae Sundays, starting at 6pm. Music caters to all ages, from acoustic to rock. (668-8344)



Star Island gill

The Grill at the Star Island Yacht Club features live music Saturday afternoons and Tournament weekends.



Traffic MYC

Located a 240 Fort Pond Road, this new night spot has an indoor pub bar, a dance floor, an indoor/outdoor patio bar and a beach. Saturday night reggae and other events scheduled throughout the season.



Zum Schneider

The Bavarian Biergarten and restaurant in the Village, has frequent appearances from the Oompah band Mösl Franzi and the JaJaJa's during the summer. Thursday night is Polka night with live entertainment. Zum Schneider also celebrates May Day, Oktoberfest, and other events during the year. 631-283-5963

Different bands perform every Monday in July and August on the Village Green, and also on Sundays at the Harbor, outdoors at Gosman's band shell. The free concerts on the Green start at 6:30 in July, 6:00 in August, and last from 1-2 hours. At the Harbor the concerts start at 6pm. Bring a chair, bring the family, bring a picnic, these informal fun concerts appeal to all ages.
